Catania Fish Market

The fish market in Catania is located in the very center of the city. It works like most markets in Italy only in the morning. In addition to fish of all kinds, you can buy vegetables and fruits. In general, fewer words - more photos that will tell much more. Immersed.

We walked around the market in May, just the season of cherries / cherries at 3.5 euros per kilo, peaches at 2 euros / kilo.

My favorite mussels, they are Cozze, for which I specially fly from Rome to Trapani to the La Piazzetta restaurant in the fish market for locals, cost only 3 euros / kilo.

There are more expensive options at 10 euros / kilo.

We move to the department with more serious fish. How do you like this tuna carcass?

Many names and species of marine life are unfamiliar to me, but I'm sure these snails are perfect for soup.

Fresh red mussels at 10 euros / kilo.

Everyone loves shrimp.

Ordinary fish.

Please note that there are almost no women in the fish market - both sellers and buyers are mostly men.

Someone is buying, and someone is watching buyers, I'm talking about the dons at the top.

Freshly caught tuna is cut right in front of you.

Of course, in any market you will find olives for every taste. Want green with pepper.

Do you want purple.

You can take a vegetable mix.

Sword fish costs 25 euros / kilogram - this is one of my favorite dishes in restaurants in Sicily. The price per serving is usually around 12-15 euros.

Live snails are also a great delicacy.

In the minibar there is the opportunity to knock out coffee for 0.5 euros or freshly squeezed juice and Sicilian oranges.

Department with cheeses and limoncello.

At the exit from the market, we bought a couple of kilos of deliciously delicious strawberries and cherries.
