Miss Italy, 75 years of history in one calendar

Twelve shots extol the beauty of the last winners of the contest of the most charming representatives of the beautiful half of Italy

"Miss Italy is constantly evolving, does not stop there, and is celebrating its 75th anniversary with a grand scale and enthusiasm," said Patrizia Mirigliani, daughter of the famous founder of the contest, who died in 2011, commented on the idea of creating a photo calendar for 2014. The new issue will be a kind of brief retelling of the stories of the last winners, incorporating the most vivid photographs from the previous ten projects.

You will not find this upscale calendar for sale, there will be no nudity, and mass advertising is also not expected - it will be possible to see it only on the official website of the competition. The idea to develop a calendar with only the chosen winner of the Miss Italy contest came up with Patricia Mirigliani herself in 2003. Then the main character of the photo shoot was Francesca Chillemi, and Lorenzo Bringheli photographed it. Since then, every year, young queens for a unique collection are perpetuated by recognized masters of photography and young talents.

For example, the 2013 project "The image of a woman. Lifestyle" reflected the social role of women in fashion trends of several decades.

The main character of the issue, Giusy Buscemi (Giusy Buscemi), who turned out to be not just a model, but a wonderful actress, presented a somewhat ironic spirit to popular female images from the 40s to the present day. And photographer Claudio Porcarelli (Claudio Porcarelli) showed that the "game" continues, everything changes, as it happens in nature throughout the year. For photographs with almost documentary value, models that became symbols of the era were used: works by the sisters Fontana and Chanel, Dior and Paco Raban, Versace, Mary Quant, Yves Saint Laurent, “flower children” of the 70s, Giorgio Armani and Valentino .

Miss Italy 2013

So despite the heated debate this year around the event, when the central Italian television company RAI decided to cross off the contest from the program, Miss Italy remains part of Italian culture. After all, the beauty and taste of Italian women are known and revered throughout the world.
