Biography

Singer and composer, TV presenter Toto Kutuno was born on 07/07/1943 in the Italian region of Toscana (Toscana) in the small town of Fozdinovo (Fosdinovo). The head of the boy’s family served in the navy and the family had to move a lot in connection with business trips.

The talent of his father - the ability to play the trumpet - rendered an invaluable service to his capable son. Toto began to learn to play musical instruments early.

At age 7, he became a drummer in his father's group and began to learn to play the guitar and accordion. Keyboards, trumpet, saxophone - all this was easily given to little Cutugno thanks to perseverance and diligence.

First successes

The childhood and youth of the future world celebrity took place in La Spezia (the eastern neighborhood of Riviera, a city on the shores of the Ligurian Sea (mar Ligure)), where his father was transferred to the service. At 13, Salvatore decided to try his hand at a regional accordion competition. His parents did not expect that his son would take at least some place, but supported in the desire to participate. It was unexpected for everyone to listen to the music of Toto Cutugno in solo performance was pleasant and easy, the boy played professionally. The jury awarded him the prize 3rd place.

Parents rejoiced at such successes, but the young man was not given a musical education. He had to enter an economic university and receive the profession of an accountant, which subsequently failed to work a single day.

Beneficial cooperation

At 19, our hero goes on a six-month tour in Finland with the popular musician Guido Manuzardi and his jazz ensemble G-Unit. The tour was a dizzying success, which inspired Toto.

Upon returning to his homeland, he assembled his own group, giving it the name "Toto and Tati" ("Toto e Tati"), in which his three like-minded friends and sibling Roberto rallied. The group went on tour in Italy, sang at discos, in night clubs, in different bars. But there was not much success, the musicians did not play their songs, but the compositions of famous artists.

In the years 1976-76. the singer performs in the music group "Albatros" ("Albatros"). Toto Cutugno, together with Vito Pallavichinipesni, wrote Oasis and Uomo dove vai, Africa. In 1976, the composition of the Albatros group called Volo AZ 504 took third place in Sanremo.

Solo career

The collapse of the ensemble "Albatross" was the beginning of a solo career Salvatore.

In 1980, the song “Only Us” (“Solo noi”) brings laurels to the winner of Cutugno at the next festival in San Remo.

The Serenata was awarded second place at San Remo in 1984.
